The Agha Khan Trust for Cultural(AKTC), the cultural agency of the Agha Khan
Development Network (AKDN), play a vital role in AKDN's integrated approach of building
the broad spectrum of human development- economic, social and culture-into a
comprehensive strategy. The trust is dedicated to revitalizing culture and
improving the overall quality of life in societies where Muslims have a
significant presence through various programmes.
Among these the Agha Khan Cultural Programme (AKHCP), implements conservation
and urban revitalization projects in culturally significant sites of the Islamic
world, undertaking the restoration and rehabilitation of historic structure and
public spaces in ways that spur social, economic and culture development.

Since 1992 the Agha Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKSCP) affiliates of the
AKTC and operating arm of AKHCP has concentrated in northern Pakistan, with the
first intervention being the conservation of the baltit fort and rehabilitation
of Karimabad in Hunza followed by the Shigar Fort and its surrounding historic
settlements in Baltistan as well as currently being engaged in the conservation
of Khaplu Palace and the Altit fort, beside inventorying of culture assets,
working with government and civil society in developing and civil society in
developing and implementing land use planning instruments, institution
development for community- based conservation, innovative models for management
of culture properties as well as revival of traditional craft and developing
modemized affordable seismic-resistant traditional housing, all aimed at
utilising cultural heritage as assets for development.
Our projects have won a number of prestigious prizes, including UNESCO Asia Pacific
Heritage Awards of Excellence for Culture heritage given to Baltit fort and
Shigar fort; a Time Magazine; Best of Asia Award; a British Airways Tourism for
Tomorrow Award and the PATA Golden Club Award for Baltit Fort.
Very recently we have entered into a collaborative Public- Private
Partnership with the Government of the Punjab for mutual collaboration in the
Sustainable Development of the Walled city of Lahore Project (The Lahore Walled
City (LWC) Project). Under this agreement, AKTC/AKCSP will provide expert
assistance to the LWC project for urban conservation and rehabilitation,
architectural conservation and appropiate social and economic development.
AKCSP offers a number of exciting openings for architects and civil engineering
for its work, in the north and in Lahore. Application are invited
from experienced and also recently qualified architects and civil engineers who
are interested in the work described above to join the AKCSP team. We offer opportunities
for training. Learning and doing International caliber conservation work on
culture heritage sites both in spectacular natural setting as well as on a major
Pakistani urban heritage site, and on architectural heritage in World Heritage
context.
Selected professionals will, upon successful completion of 3month probation, become
member of AKCSP's regular contract staff. Regular staff members are expected to
be able to move to and work in all geographic areas in Pakistan where AKCSP is
engaged. salaries, perquisites and training (including international) are as per
AKCSP rules.

in protection and conservation of Cultural Heritage.
2. A brief curriculum vitae.
3. Copy of provisional certificate/ degree.
4. Names, telephone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses of two
references. The applicants should have obtained permission from these persons
two act as references prior to submitting the application.
