for the Livelihood Programme
Intercooperation (IC) is a Swiss Development Foundation
mandated to implement the Swiss Agency for Development and cooperation's (SDC)
funded Livelihood Programme in the selected Districts of NWFP. The goal of
programme is "Improvement in living conditions and reduced vulnerability
of poor communities based on, and sustained through the successful interaction
with their political. social and economic context" It is understood that the
people's livelihood mainly depends on natural resources, and
therefore , natural resources and therefore, natural resource management will be
at the core of the programme. Interventions will focus on value chain promotion,
improving (access to) service delivery, resource governance and related capacity
building. The programme will work with a multitude of partners from the
public, private and civil society sectors.
Contract: Three and a half years contract. with
possibility of extension, beginning July 2007. Duty station is Peshawar, with
frequent traveling to the programme districts. Salary and benefits will be
comparable to international donors standards.
Qualification: PhD/ Post Graduate/ Masters in
Development Economics or Natural Resource Management or Rural Anthropology or
Education. Qualification would be valued in combination with the work profile.
Work Profile:
At least fifteen years of experience in project
designing implementation, reporting and monitoring in the development sector.
At least five years experience of working in donor funded
projects.
Experience in collaborating with the public and private
sector
Strong negotiation skills and experience in policy
dialogue at both provincial and district levels.
Well established management skills and leadership
qualities. This Includes hands on experience in conflict resolution and
consensus building in a multi-stakeholder environment.
Well-established linkage with exiting network in public
and private sector and civil society organizations, in particular in NWFP
Good knowledge of rural economy, local economic
development and practical experience in value chain promotion.
Conceptual clarity on human rights based approach
livelihood approach, human and Institutional development and gender
mainstreaming.
Practical experience in applying livelihood and human
rights based approaches will be considered a strong asset.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Knowledge of pushto language will be considered an advantage.
